How it all started:
In the Spring of 2005
something happened
in my life, and every
time I returned home
from a milonga, I would
paint a little vignette of
my experience of that
night. Or a fantasia.

As I was going over the
paper, I had the feeling
that I was touching
again that majestic back
or pressing close to my
body the slender soul of
what was a warm body
attached to mine,
in dance and music,
only minutes ago.
With painting, the fading
sensation was staying
with me a little longer,
in a realm between reality
and inspiration.

The tangos from my big
record collection were
reverberating in my ears
feelings that I could poorly
describe in colors and
never in words.
The music and the sound
of the pastel sticks on
paper were accompanying
my loneliness and
occasional despair.
Over time these drawings
became a small pile …

When I was invited by
the LA ART FEST to
show my work, I debated
whether I should share
with the public these
personal sketches.
The public won.
In sharing my experience
with others I hope that
they themselves receive
an invitation by Tango,
discover their own, as
spectators or participants,
and make it part of their lives,
like tango has made me
one of its own.
